Feed The Kids

It saddens me a little when I hear “my child won’t eat vegetables”…. Hmmmmm. If that’s you, your challenge is to find a way to prepare vegetables so that your children will! They cannot NOT eat vegetables. This single act sets them up for later health issues & illness and establishes negative and life-long eating habits. The statistics are out there – lack of vegetables in a child’s diet puts them at risk of such things as bowel cancer later in life.

Some suggestions:

  • Be a role-model. If your children see you eating and enjoying vegetables, they are more likely to do the same. (And you are doing your own health immeasurable good!)

  • Have them help you prepare dinner! Make vegetable skewers, grate carrot and zucchini (courgette) to add to their salad, grow your own vegetables and have them help you “pick and plate”.

  • I am not a fan of “eat your vegetables or you don’t get dessert”… I don’t believe food should be a reward – my view – it can create all sorts of unhealthy associations later in life..

  • Lastly, HIDE THEM!

Do you make spaghetti bolognese? I make mine with at least four vegetables in it and I promise you, your kids won’t be able to tell. You'll find my recipe on this link…

Start as you mean to go on..for those lucky enough to be just starting out on the Mum path, ensure that your bub gets vegetables each and every day. It’s just what you do! Establish good eating habits from day one.

For those who need to make some modifications to your family’s eating plans, I can help.. drop me a line and together we can work out a plan to integrate some ways of including more of the healthy options for your children.
